Saturday’s Group 1 Caulfield Stakes will feature just three runners, with champion mare Winx set to start around $1.16 after scaring away all but two of her potential rivals.
The race was set to be a match-race between Winx and last start Underwood Stakes winner Black Heart Bart until just before acceptance time when David Hayes et all accepted with He or She, who was second in the Underwood.
Even the lure of a guaranteed $27,000 prizemoney for a horse who finishes fourth couldn’t convince anyone else to accept for the race, which will be run at race 6 at 3:15pm.
A possible match race brought comparisons to the famous race in 1992 at Caulfield between champions Let’s Elope and Better Loosen Up. Let’s Elope won that race for a $75,000 winner takes all prize.

The Thousand Guineas (1600m) has attracted 15 runners, with the $2.60 favourite Foxplay drawing ideally in barrier 5. Global Glamour, coming off a Group 1 win in the Flight Stakes last weekend, is $5.50 after drawing barrier eight.
The Toorak Handicap, with a field of 13, sees the well-supported He’s Our Rokki $4.50 – Bet365) jump out of the inside barrier, while Tosen Stardom ($5.50) comes out of barrier 12 and Bon Aurum ($5.50) from barrier 7.
