Tennessee blew a chance on Sunday to take sole possession of second place in the AFC South when they lost to the Indianapolis Colts at home, while Jacksonville dropped to 2-4 with a loss against the Oakland Raiders.
Titans coach Mike Mularkey made it clear Sunday that he does not like playing Thursday night games but the game may be just what Titans’ fans need. They’ll only have 100 hours to forget about Sunday’s 34-26 loss to the Colts instead of a full week.
Despite the loss to the Colts, the Titans (3-4) are still in the hunt for the AFC South crown. With the season’s halfway mark approaching, the Texans are the only team in the division with a winning record.
Houston lost to Denver on Monday night (Tuesday morning AEDT) and loss so now they hold only a one-game advantage over the Titans and Colts (3-4). The Jaguars are one game back at 2-4.

The latter lost 33-16 at home to the Raiders on Sunday. They trailed 20-6 at halftime and scored their only touchdown until midway through the fourth quarter.
The most worrying thing about that loss was that quarterback Blake Bortles was picked off twice, the third time this season he’s thrown at least two interceptions.
That stat coupled with the fact that Tennessee has the NFL’s number six ranked rushing defence could mean even more trouble for the QB in his third season.
Bortles’ counterpart, Marcus Mariota wasn’t the problem in Tennessee’s loss on Sunday. He posted a 95.8 passer rating, continuing to put up good numbers against bad defences.
Having thrown at least two touchdown passes in games against Detroit, Miami, Cleveland and Indianapolis, the quarterback should be effective against Jacksonville who are ranked at 26th in the league allowing 26.7 points per game.
