Sharks set to easily notch 14th-straight win

Sun, Jul 17, 9:28pm by Staff Writer

Roosters v SharksSydney Roosters host the Cronulla Sharks in the final match of Round 19 of the NRL on Monday Night Football.

The Sharks have only lost two games all season in stark contrast to the Roosters who have struggled to only three wins in the same time. The form cards for the two sides could not be any more different as Cronulla look to add to a 13-game winning streak and Sydney look to rectify a five-game losing streak.

Cronulla find themselves in a two-way battle for the Minor Premiership with the Melbourne Storm and will be looking keep themselves edging in front with victory here.

Sportsbet holds them as favourites to beat the Roosters priced at $1.55 for what should be a routine victory. Despite a poor win record the Roosters have been close in a number of those defeats. Eight times they have lost by four points or less and have shown patches of quality. They may well spring a surprise against the men at the top with Sportsbet pricing a Roosters victory at $2.52.

Sportsbet are offering Big Win/Little Win (In 80 mins) odds for both sides seeing their odds increase. Cronulla are at $3.00 for both a victory by 13+ points and a Little Win of 1-12 points. The Roosters odds rise dramatically in the Big Win section of 13+ points priced at $6.50 and a close victory at $3.75. A draw after 80 minutes priced at $26.00.

Cronulla are expected to have their Origin players back in their club jerseys on Monday Night Football while the Roosters look likely to rest their stars. It is, however, the men who did not play Origin who are favourites to top the try scoring in this match. Valentine Holmes leads the charge for the Sharks at $1.62 to score a try at any time with Daniel Tupou of the Roosters at $2.25. Both of those men stand at the lowest price to score the first try with Holmes at $7.50 and Tupou at $11.00.

James Maloney returns with his new Cronulla side to face the club that he left in 2015 and will be looking to pile on the misery for his former employers. His effect in the match could prove pivotal and Sportsbet price Maloney at $26.00 to score the first try and $4.33 to score a try at any time. Add a Sharks victory to Maloney scoring a try and the prices increases to $5.50 while him scoring and the Roosters claiming victory stands at $12.00.

It is hard to look any further than a Cronulla Sharks victory over the Sydney Roosters on Monday Night Football. In the fine form that they are in they could well add further to the woes of Roosters supporters with a big score.

Bet of the Match: Cronulla to Win by 13+ points at $3.00.
