Monday Night Football sees two teams on top form clash as first place takes on fourth on the ladder. Both sides are in incredible form as the season draws to a close, the Melbourne Storm and Canberra Raiders have found their stride. With six wins in a row each heading into this clash, it is difficult to see how they can be separated.
The Raiders need a win to keep up the pressure on the Canterbury Bulldogs who leap-frogged them on the ladder with Friday night’s victory over Manly. Canberra enter this match on the back of what must go down as the result of the season defeating the Cronulla Sharks 30-14 inflicting their first defeat since Round 3. Yet they will start the fixture as underdogs to the Storm priced at $2.10 with William Hill.
The form of the Storm may well replicate that of the Raiders but William Hill give them the edge at $1.75. Despite the successive victories, Melbourne have stuttered a little and have needed to rely on the magic of the likes of Cameron Smith to salvage them. A narrow win over Souths last time out has not set them up in the best way for this tough fixture. The wins may well be racking up on the ladder but the performances have not been up to scratch.
With the addition of a margin of victory added to the win the Storms odds rise to $3.35 for a 1-12 point victory and $3.40 for 13+ points. In contrast a narrow win of 1-12 points for the Raiders is priced at $3.70 and a 13+ victory at $4.30. Expect this to be a close fought contest between these two top ranked sides.
Favourite for the first Try Scorer and Winner combo is Suliasi Vunivalu and a Melbourne Storm win priced at $10.00. Elsewhere combined with a Storm victory, Marika Koroibete stands at $14.00 and Will Chambers at $19.00. For a Canberra player to score first and the Raiders to go on to win the match the lowest price starts at $16.00 for Jordan Rapana. While Brenko Lee and Jarrod Croker are priced at $18.00 each.
Suliasi Vunivalu is also favourite to score a try at any time during the match priced with William Hill at $1.50. Jordan Rapana and Jarrod Croker are favourites in green to score a try at any time priced at $2.00. With both sides in such sparkling attacking form it will be interesting to see which side can break down the others rock solid defence.
