The NRL Round 22 could well be dominated by one man. If as expected Jarryd Hayne is cleared to take to the field for the Gold Coast Titans on Sunday then this will surely be the story of the Round in a match that was already primed to be massive.
Titans v Warriors, 2pm, Sunday August 7
The Titans host the New Zealand Warriors fresh from their epic contest with the Cronulla Sharks. In a match filled with conflict and intrigue it was the Titans who showed plenty of attacking form and will feel that they rightly deserve the favourites tag for this match standing at $1.57 with William Hill. Add to that the injection of Hayne and their odds could lower. The Warriors managed to put their golden point disappointments behind them to finally secure a victory over Penrith with a golden try. Both sides need this victory to stay in the top eight but the New Zealand side will have to overturn odds of $2.40 if they are claim victory.
Bet of the Match: Gold Coast Titans to Win at $1.57
Sharks v Raiders, 5:30pm, Saturday August 6
Cronulla may well have finally had their winning run brought to end but they still sit atop the NRL ladder. In order to stave off the Melbourne Storm who are biting at their heels, the Sharks will have to bounce back this weekend against an in form Canberra Raiders side who will be looking for another scalp. William Hill is predicting that Cronulla will get back to winning ways in Round 21 pricing them at $1.52 in contrast to the Raiders at $2.50. Canberra will have their work cut out to topple the Sharks but they have proven many times this year that they have the capabilities to beat the big sides in this competition.
Bet of the Match: Canberra Raiders to Win at $2.50
Tigers v Cowboys, 4:00pm, Sunday August 7
Elsewhere the North Queensland Cowboys are drastically in need of a revitalising victory against Wests Tigers. They dropped on the ladder down the fourth place and are realistically in danger of losing their place in the top four if they cannot find a win over the Tigers. Wests themselves have found form after the dropping of Robbie Farah with two wins out of two in his absence. Keeping alive their hopes of the top eight and Finals footy. North Queensland are strong favourites with William Hill, priced at $1.45. While the Tigers, despite home advantage stand at $2.75. Wests will be desperate for victory here but the Cowboys are likely to be too strong with the returning Johnathan Thurston.
Bet of the Match: North Queensland Cowboys to Win at $1.45
As the end of the NRL season approaches when sides close to each other on the ladder meet, the matches become all the more important. A win can save a season whilst a loss can send a club spiralling out of Finals football chances. No one want to miss out on the playoffs action come the end of the season.
