Manly Sea Eagles head into Monday Night Football in dire need of a victory after seven straight defeats. It would appear that the task at hand does not get any easier as they welcome St George Illawarra Dragons to Brookvale Oval.
The Dragons are currently still in the race for the top eight and will be looking to stay in the midst of the chasing pack.
Despite the huge difference in form of the two sides William Hill holds the home side as favourites to take the win over the Dragons. The Sea Eagles are priced at $1.60 for the straight win in comparison to the away side at $2.35. With the addition of a margin on the victory Manly’s odds rise to $3.10 for both a win of 1-12 points and 13+ points. St George’s odds take a significant increase for a 13+ win priced at $5.15 and $4.05 for a margin of 1-12 points.
A narrow loss last time out for the Sea Eagles will have boosted their confidence massively as they head into this Round. William Hill are offering odds on a combination of the First Try Scorer and Match Winner with Jordan Taufua and Manly the favourite priced at $11.00.Star man Daly Cherry-Evans has returned in recent weeks from an ankle injury and will be looking to continue that improvement with a try-win double for him at $32.00.
The Dragons will no doubt be looking to upset the odds and the Sea Eagles to keep themselves in contention for finals footy.
William Hill hold long odds on any St George player scoring the first try and taking the victory. The shortest odds are on Jason Nightingale at $18.00 and $19.00 for Kalifa Faifai Loa to set his side on the way to a win away from home. The Dragons’ away form has been brought into the spotlight this season has they have only managed two wins away from their home support.
The two men with the shortest odds for First Try Scorer can be pitched in a head to head for Most Tries with William Hill. Jordan Taufua edges his opponent Kalifa Faifai Loa in this battle priced at $2.75 compared to $3.00 with a Tie standing at $1.85. The two winger’s performances will be vital for their team’s hopes of victory.
Away from the flying backs the big men face off on Most Tries with Jack De Belin priced at $9.00 over Jake Trbojevic at $7.00. A tie between the two loose forwards stands at $1.16.
With Manly being tipped by William Hill as favourites for victory one offer that may well be tempting is that of one team scoring three unanswered tries. $2.10 is the price if no side achieves this compared to $1.70 for one of the two teams to run out to a big lead in this clash.
This match is vital for the Dragons to stay in the fight for the top eight while Manly continue to rebuild in a disappointing season for them. A win here though will undoubtedly spur them on for the remainder of the season.
