The NRL season may well be over but that does not mean that all the top class rugby league is. Perth will host its first ever international league match as Australia take on New Zealand at NIB Stadium. Ahead of the Four Nations tournament in the UK, these two great rivals will meet in preparation for their trip to the northern hemisphere. With pride on the line this match will undoubtedly be another classic encounter.
When these two sides last met it was the Kangaroos who came out on top in the 2016 Anzac Test, comfortably beating the Kiwis 16-0. New Zealand will be out to avenge that defeat and will be looking for a vastly improved performance. Something that they will have to do if they are to have any hope of overturning a price of $3.00 with William Hill. Australia’s dominance in this fixture is a thing of the past with the Kiwis having won three of the last four matches between them. They will be looking to this seasons joint Dally M Medallist Jason Taumalolo to provide the fire power up front.
Australia will turn to their wealth of international and origin experience as they look to reassert themselves as the best team in the world. Ahead of the Four Nations, that they will be looking to retake from New Zealand, they will want a confidence boosting victory in Perth.
Mal Meninga continues to search for the right blend of youth and experience in this Kangaroos squad. They are favourites heading into this match priced at $1.40 with William Hill but the Kiwis could provide the stern test that they need before the Four Nations kicks off.
William Hill are backing the Kangaroos to win and win big. The addition of a margin to the victory sees a 13+ points win for Australia as favourite at $2.50. In comparison a win of that margin for the Kiwis is at a rather large $7.50. A close contest sees prices of $3.00 for Australia and $4.25 for New Zealand for a win of between 1-12 points. For a repeat of the last fixture which saw Australia deny the Kiwis any points at all William Hill are offering $17.00. For the away side to keep the Kangaroos scoreless is a little higher at $34.00.
The jersey number of the first tryscorer is priced at $1.55 for the backs, numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 from either side. Whilst the forwards getting on the scoresheet first stands at $2.35 for any other number/ penalty try/ tryless match. Getting over the line early could well be key for who comes out of this match with a win.
Despite the best efforts of Scotland and England, this weekend could see a test run of the 2016 Four Nations Final. Both Australia and New Zealand will be desperate to gain any mental advantage they can with a win in Perth.
