Cronulla Sharks will be desperate to get back to winning ways when they face the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Monday Night Football. After dominating all before them throughout the season they are now on a two match losing streak. Momentum is key heading into the Finals and they will need to improve their performances dramatically if they are to get their season back on track.
South Sydney are placed 13th on the ladder but recent performances have begun to reflect the talent that is in the squad rather than their position. With such strength in depth the Rabbitohs’ supporters must be baffled as to why they have struggled so much this year. They will have to put in a near perfect performance is they are to have any chance of overturning odds of $3.15 with Sportsbet against the Sharks.
Cronulla stand as favourites with Sportsbet priced at $1.38 to get back to winning ways. The return of Paul Gallen to the starting line-up ensures that the Sharks will head into this match with their talisman at the helm. They are a side in need of a win and will fancy their chances away to the Rabbitohs.
Sportsbet are offering Big Win Little Win odds for both sides with the stand out favourite a Big Win of 13+ points for Cronulla priced at $2.50. A Little Win for the Sharks of between 1-12 points stands at $3.00. South Sydney’s odds rise dramatically with the addition of a margin with a Little Win at $4.50 and a Big Win at $8.00. A draw is priced at $23.00.
Valentine Holmes is favourite with Sportsbet to be the First Tryscorer at $6.50 followed by his teammate Ben Barba at $9.50. Then comes South Sydney’s best chance, Alex Johnston at $10.00. Those three men also lead the way with the prices for Anytime Tryscorer with Holmes at $1.45, Barba at $1.83 and Johnston priced at $2.00.
The impact off the bench of fresh legs is vital in any match and those players can have a huge impact on the match. If a coach can make the right change at the right time it can inspire a team to glory. For any interchange player to score a try, Sportsbet are offering Super Sub odds. For an interchange player to score the price stands at $2.10 but if they fail to do so the price is $1.70.
South Sydney are out of contention for the Finals places but they still have plenty of pride to play for and will no doubt look forward to adding to the Sharks misfortune. The Sharks after such a splendid season including that 15 match winning streak, now need to prove to themselves and those outsiders looking in that they have not peaked too early in what is a long NRL season.
